At the end of June, we took a look at the Console Enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls Online. This update gave console players a much-needed boost in graphics. While some decent improvements were made to utilize the power brought by the newest generation of consoles, there was still some room to grow. Improvements will be making their way to the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 with the Waking Flame DLC. And PC players, do not despair. There is an update coming along for you as well. Console players will see some quality of life improvements with the Waking Flame DLC. Firstly, players will be able to harness the true power in their consoles and play ESO at both a higher resolution and 60FPS. Unfortunately, in Console Enhanced, players had to pick between one or the other. And while the game still looked good, you were missing out on some wonderful graphics if you favored your framerate. Xbox Series X and PS5 players will be able to scale their graphics between 1080p and 2160p. Xbox Series S players will be able to scale between 1080p and 1440p. Being able to scale these graphics is nice, but that isn’t all. This update also brings a new HDR mode to The Elder Scrolls Online. A Vibrant mode will be added to help with hue preservation when using HDR. But, if you like how it looks now in HDR, you will be able to switch between the modes. For PC players, a new beta is being added for multithread rendering. This render method was implemented in the Console Enhanced release for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 players. This beta is intended to help those who do not have as powerful machines as you might like. The goal of multithread rendering is to help improve the player’s framerate, especially if you use any add-ons. Add-ons are pretty big in the Elder Scrolls Online community. And since they take up extra power on your machine, this update is looking to alleviate some of that strain. ZeniMax urges anyone interested to opt-in to the beta and to provide your thoughts and feedback. The Waking Flame DLC drops on PC, Mac, and Stadia on August 23rd. Our console friends will have to wait just a little longer but will see the DLC on August 31st.
